We just got back from spending the weekend in Tampa with our friends, Kevin, Paul and Cara. Kevin is our friend from Arkansas and a retired Army man (See January 5, 2008 entry). Paul and Cara have a home in another RV resort near here and are also motorcycling friends from Arkansas. Kevin got us both rooms on the base for $30.00 a night. We were welcomed onto the base by a hugh plane coming right toward us when landing on the airstrip. Unfortunately I did not have my camera out and did not get a picture. We will never forget how that looked.
On Saturday we went deep sea fishing with Kevin out of Tarpon Springs, Florida just north of Tampa. The boat we fished on was named Two Georges and was 85 feet long. There were probably 30 people on board. We caught many fish called Grunts. They are called that because they sound like they are grunting when you catch them. They are supposed to be good eating so we had them cleaned and will give them a try.
We really wanted Grouper and I caught one but it was only 18 inches long and they have to be 22 inches so he had to go back. Next time we will fish with live bait because that is what was catching all the bigger ones.

Sunday we left Mac Dill AFB with our friends (they rode their motorcycles)and we all went north of Tarpon Springs to a fresh water spring called Weeki Wachee.
This place was very very popular in the 50’s and 60’s. The place itself has seen better days but we still enjoyed seeing the LIVE mermaids and the boat ride with our friends down the Weeki Wachee River. Make sure you look it up on the internet at www.weekiwachee.com to see the LIVE mermaids.
We move tomorrow onto our new spot. Even though we have not closed on the spot the current owners said they do not mind.
