We are still here!!!

Another two months has gone by and I have not written on this blog.  Not sure how many people read this blog but I did hear from one friend, Patsy, that I had not written anything lately.  I told her it was in the works, so Patsy here it is.

In January we toured the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings at the Florida Southern College.  In 1938 the president of the college wanted something done to the elegant brick buildings to give it the first truly “American” college.  He challenged Frank Lloyd Wright (70 years old) to design eighteen buildings and for the next 20 years twelve were built under Wright’s guidance. We enjoyed the fifties look and the “Child of the Sun” campus which is the largest and most fully articulated collection of Wright’s work in the world.

We had a short trip back to Minnesota for the three youngest granddaughter’s birthdays.  January 29^th Bricelyn was two years old, Aubrey was four on February 6^th and Sophia was six on February 8^th. They had a joint birthday on the 7^th of February.  We had a great time spending a lot of time with the granddaughters.

We drove about 60 miles away near Orange City to the Blue Springs State Park to see the Manatees that come there during the cold weather.  We have seen manatees at the power plants near Tampa but the water there is mucky and it is very hard to see the manatees. We were so pleasantly surprised to see the crystal clear water and the largest spring on the St. John ’s River that keeps the water 72 degrees. We had a nice visit with our nephew Erik, Mindy, Tryg (4) and Kale (almost two). We were in the Magic Kingdom one day and Hollywood Studios two days later. We had burgers at our place and just as our luck always is, it was a cool time (temperature and getting together).  We had SOOOO much fun and totally different days than when we are in the parks with girls. The boys were very good and Erik and Mindy were also.

We have been working at Disney but not a lot which is just fine with us.  It has allowed us to travel around FLorida a little more and see new things here.  We drove over to Long Boat Key last Monday and visited my brother Randy and Sue.  We enjoyed the walk on the white sandy beach and our visit with them.  

Tomorrow Pete's sister Lill and our friend Lynn will visit and have dinner with us.  On Monday we will visit Epcot where they are celebrating the Flower and Garden show. On Tuesday we drive to Pompono (near Fort Lauderdale) to visit friends, John and Tinsy, from MN. and on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we are in the Polk County Senior Bowling games.  So you can see we keep ourselves busy and enjoying life.
