We are still here!!!

We have seen a lot of friends and a few relatives in the last month. Visited with my brother, Randy and Sue in Longboat Key on the gulf; drove to Fort Meyers to visit friends Dick and Louise at Doc Ford’s Restaurant on Estero Bay (if you are ever in Fort Meyers and love fish you just have to stop there); had Pete’s sister, Lill and a friend Lynn over for supper and a day in Epcot; drove to Pompano beach to have lunch with friends John and Tinsy and sat next to a $200,000,000 boat belonging to Steven Spielberg (who happened to be on his boat). You can rent it for a week for just a little more than 1 million. March 11, 12 and 13 we bowled in the senior games but as of now have given up bowling until next fall.  You can only do so much of a good thing.

We went to New Smyrna Beach with our friends Fred and Susan.  You can drive on the beach but we had to wait until the tide went down.  They have a very nice little town with a lot of nice shops and we enjoyed shopping and picking up a few things.

We went to an interesting place with our friends Dean and Patsy.  It is called Solomon’s Castle.  Howard Solomon built the castle and it is his home.  Everything is made out of recycled parts/pieces.  You would never find it on your own and we have no idea how it came to be so popular but there were a lot of people there when we arrived waiting for a tour of his home and grounds. 

At first I thought it looked tacky, and it does, but after looking at all the things this man has made and the unique names he has given his pieces he is truly an artist.  Do you see the dueling Kevorkian guns? He also built a boat in a moat in the middle of the forest and people come from all over to see his castle and eat at his restaurant.  Visit his website at  www.solomonscastle.org/

We saw the new movie Cinderella and even though Pete did not want to see it he also admitted it was a very good movie.  We saw “Lady of Gold” with Helen Mirren and that was an excellent movie.  One definitely worth seeing.

We are starting to prepare for our trip back to MN.  We leave here on April 23^rd and will take a week visiting around Chattanooga, Tennessee and see “Dolly World” in Pigeon Forge, North Carolina. Should be back in MN May 1^st.
