It has been so long since I have written on this blog that I am embarrassed about it.
Our journey back to MN in late April took us to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where we stayed in the old Chattanooga Depot. From there we were able to walk to the river. We took the Incline Railroad (http://www.ridetheincline.com ) up the side of Look Out Mountain, saw
Ruby Falls (http://www.rubyfalls.com/gallery/entry/cave-and-falls) and Rock City (http://www.seerockcity.com/ ). These are all highlights in this area.
This stop was recommended by our friend, Kevin, and turned out to be a pleasant surprise for us. So glad we spent a few days there. Dollywood was our next stop in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Just wanted to see it and glad we did. Would we go back?
Cincinnati, Ohio was our next stop for their famous Cincinnati Chili served on top of spaghetti. We liked it so much we ordered packages of it and have made it in MN.
May was spent visiting family and friends, getting new carpet throughout our condo and getting ready for our “European Vacation”.
We left the end of May for a month long trip. Our “British Isle and Northern Ireland Highlight Tour” started in London.
We traveled for 10 days. In England we saw London, Strafford-upon-Avon, York, Harrogate, Lake District, Gretna Green Bath and Stonehenge.
In Scotland we visited Glasgow and Edinburgh.
In Northern Ireland we saw Belfast. In Ireland we saw Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Waterford and Rosslare. In Whales we visited Pembroke and Cardiff. We were up at 6 every day and on the bus by 7. We arrived at our next hotel late every evening. It was typical English weather, rain, rain and more rain and the food was not so great. History was wonderful and we really enjoyed the trip in spite of the go, go, and go. People ask us what was your favorite but it’s hard to say.
I really enjoyed Stonehenge so that probably was my favorite.
From there we traveled to Madrid and were picked up by Dan. We spent the rest of our time in Salamanca, Spain with Dan, Ana, Helena and Julia.
The girls were still in school so we were able to see year end saxophone (Helena) and recorder (Julia) concerts, choir concerts and dance recitals. We had a thoroughly relaxing time and enjoyed so much being with Dan and family.
July whizzed on by with a small trip to Arkansas. After selling our motorhome a year and a half ago we also sold our RV lot in Arkansas. We still have a lot of friends there and got lonesome for them all. We were very impressed with “The Top Of The Rock” on Tablerock Lake in Missouri where we went for supper one night with our friend Kevin.
(http://www.topoftherock.com/). Johnny Morris has been working on this place for many years and has finally completed it. He does not scrimp on anything and it is done in a very elegant manner (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_Pro_Shops). You should take out a loan before going there.
Pete has been helping Tim with a few projects which keeps him out of trouble and we have been helping Laura by visiting with our three granddaughters while she practices for the Twin Cities Marathon happening in October.
Also just got done with painting our condo and we love it.
The new colors go very well with our new carpet.
