Happy belated New
Year!!
By now some of those
New Year resolutions you made may have fallen by the wayside. I didn’t make any
so I’m OK.
We had a wonderful
Christmas visiting with family and friends.
Of the 12 days we were there it snowed almost every day
and the coldest we had was 11 degrees below zero. The weather there since we left has been brutal and dangerous. Temperatures below zero with wind chill 20-30 degrees below zero are not something you want to mess with.
When we were in MN we
were able to get to the White Bear Lake Fire Department’s Christmas party where
Santa handed out presents. Sophia and
Aubrey love Santa but Bricelyn did not like sitting on his lap at all. We saw Sophia’s Christmas carol program and
her dancing recital. We had our Christmas Eve supper at Lill’s and our
Christmas Day Brunch at Betty’s. Things
change over time and who knows what we will be doing next year at this time.
Dan and Ana are
getting back to normal after Ana fell down some steps last September and broke
her ankle very seriously. She had
surgery and her recovery has been a long process. The whole family has had to pitch in and
help. Ana has worked a few days here and
there but is yet not back to work full time. Her physical therapy is almost
over and she is anxiously waiting for that.
Since getting back
home to FL we have worked a lot at Disney, we saw the manatees at the Tampa
electrical plant, we visited Bok Towers Gardens (a botanical garden and bird
sanctuary with a 205 foot “Singing Tower” with carillon bells built on Iron
Mountain, one of the highest points of peninsular Florida), we went to the FL
RV show, we visited Ringling Brothers Circus museum in Sarasota-see their
website for an interesting history (www.ringling.org/history-circus-museum),
we took our coach on the road and camped in Disney’s Fort Wilderness
campground, Universal Studios, and last but not least we took a car trip to Naples by way of the East coast of Florida. Wow,
we have been busy.

I think the best day
of our trip to MN was the morning of December 24th, Christmas Eve
morning. We arrived at Tim and Laura’s
early around 7 am. The granddaughters
were just getting up and, as always, happy to see us. We had a great breakfast and then on to the
more important things. We used Skype to get Dan, Ana, Helena and Julia with
us. Everyone opened gifts and we could
see Helena and Julia open their gifts, as well as Dan and Ana. They even modeled things for us and played
the CD we sent. They, in turn, could see
all of us open our gifts. It almost felt
like we were all together for Christmas.

We are looking
forward to Tim, Laura, Sophia, Aubrey and Bricelyn coming to visit on February
14th. We are also looking
forward to Dan, Ana, Helena and Julia coming back this summer. Plans are in process for that.
